Feilhaber and Adu head back to Europe

According to the CONCACAF website and Goal.com, both Feilhaber and Adu have left the US team this morning to head back to their respective club teams.

For both players, this is a good move and makes you wonder why they were ever brought into this squad in the first place?

Freddy Adu was supposedly given the chance to shine, but he was stuck with a midfield and defense that were content to heave the ball long rather than play to Adu on the ground. The pairing with Ching last night doomed any chance he had at making an impact, as the gameplan was clearly “Route 1” soccer in hopes of hitting Ching in the head.

Feilhaber, on the other hand, was brought in solely for this game….to play 27 minutes? Why didn’t we just let him start?

I think both of these guys should have gone back to their squads and participated in the higher quality training rather than stick with Bob Bradley and this mess of players on the Gold Cup squad.
