ESPN gets rights to 2 EPL games per weekend

That’s right – ESPN ponied up some money to buy the rights to 2 games per weekend for the Premier League season. Beginning Aug. 15, you will get a 6:45am (CT) game on Saturdays and the 2pm (CT) game on Mondays.

The first game on Aug. 15?

  1. I just wrote about ESPN’s growing interest in soccer, despite being outbid by FSC for Champions League broadcast rights.

Thanks for this story, it is interesting to see ESPN [who used to bash soccer on SportsCenter] come around to the beautiful game.

What’s your opinion on Altidore playing at Hull?

    jefff

  2. ESPn has come around to soccer because they realized it can be profitable. Otherwise they would continue to dismiss it as otherworldly.

  3. i don’t see Chelsea v Hull City on the TV guide. Will ESPN only show EPL games in England?

    • ESPN hasn’t “finalized” this deal yet, but FSC has taken the Hull\Chelsea game off their schedule for Saturday morning.

  4. Sounds like we won’t be getting EPL on ESPN2 in the US, that ESPN only has the rights to show EPL in the UK? Say it ain’t so.. but i read ESPN entered into an agreement last month with Gol TV to show La Liga games in the US?
